These are akin to Georgian costumes although traditional dress in the south of Russia is much the same.
This set of costumes were first worn by the adult members
of the group for the CCPR show at the Albert Hall in 2010, courtesy of the West Midlands Group; we wore them to perform Russian dances.
The floor length
skirts with stiffened underskirts help to achieve the appearance of gliding associated most strongly with Georgian dance and also seen in many Russian dances.
